Cover photo selected!
I am so excited to have been granted permission from the amazing April at Primate Rescue Center to use one of their photos on the cover of Monkey Business.
The intelligent stare below belongs to Boo, a long-tailed macaque (also known as a crab-eating macaque) who began his residency at the PRC after living as a pet and notoriously attacking someone working at a drive-thru window. He lives a much happier and more peaceful life at the sanctuary, where his mental and physical needs are better met.
Boo, this book shall do you proud.

Welcome!
Welcome, dear readers, to The Official Blog Site of Erika Fleury, author of the soon-to-be-published book Monkey Business: A History of Nonhuman Primate Rights! Do you feel special? You should, for I welcome you here with open arms!
Most likely, you came here for some information about me or Monkey Business. Therefore, without further ado....
The latest update to this project of mine (aka the book I've been working on for the last four years) is that I am meeting today with the wonderfully talented Kyle Aaron (formerly of Humid Design in Philadelphia, but who now designs at ESPN, here in Connecticut). Mr. Aaron is helping me with the layout and design of the book in general, such as the front and back covers and the spine. I can't wait to show off what he creates for me!
While that is going on, I am also in the process of selecting a photograph from the files of one of my favorite primate sanctuaries to use as the cover image. My husband, who does photography as a side business, will be working with me to take a portrait I can use professionally on the book and this website.
Monkey Business itself is still undergoing revisions with my editor, Deanna Brady of Los Angeles, California.
There is a lot going on, but I have to say, I am lucky to have great support both around me and across the country. Thanks to all.
